Project Overview

Nava Pottery is a boutique brand specializing in unique, handcrafted ceramic pieces. This redesign project focused on elevating the visual identity and user experience of the landing page (homepage) and the shopping cart, aiming to create a compelling first impression and a seamless purchasing process.

Role and Responsibilities

My role as a User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) designer included:

  • Modernizing the landing page to create a warm and inviting introduction to the brand

  • Highlighting the craftsmanship and emotional story behind each handmade ceramic piece

  • Improving the purchasing flow by designing a cleaner, more intuitive, and user-friendly shopping cart experience

Design Process
  • Researching the emotional connection customers have with handcrafted ceramics and their online shopping behavior

  • Emphasizing visual storytelling to communicate authenticity and the artisanal nature of the products, starting from the landing page

  • Designing the landing page with large, expressive imagery, balanced negative space, earthy tones, soft textures, and clean typography to immerse users in Nava Pottery’s artistic world

  • Redesigning the shopping cart to simplify the checkout process by reducing distractions, reorganizing product details, establishing a clear visual hierarchy, and adding adjustable controls with responsive feedback

  • Ensuring consistency in spacing, visual rhythm, and content structure across both the landing page and shopping cart for a unified user experience

Challenges and Solutions
  • Challenge: Conveying the tactile, authentic feel of handcrafted pottery digitally through the landing page
    Solution: Used natural color palettes, soft textures, and storytelling-focused visuals to evoke warmth and craftsmanship

  • Challenge: Simplifying the shopping cart experience to reduce friction and encourage purchase completion
    Solution: Streamlined the layout, clarified information hierarchy, and improved interactive elements for smoother navigation

Final Outcome
